Quondam Travel Scholarship

Quondam Travel Scholarship

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2022 Travel Scholarship: Class of 2014’s Hanna Bayoudhi and Devina Loomba, who left Francis Holland in 2020.

Hanna, a Civil Engineer, embarked on a trip to Liberia where she worked to provide infrastructure support (assisting with the construction of tracks and bridge structures) to facilitate transport for communities during the rainy season, when flooding poses a bigger risk. Liberia is one of the most underdeveloped nations in the world; the main beneficiary of the trip will be the rural communities who will be connected to markets by track construction. Hanna was awarded Ā£1,000 towards the costs of her trip.

Devina, who is currently mid-way through an undergraduate degree in Anthropology, will be travelling to Spain this summer, where she will be volunteering for a programmeĀ run by IVHQ, called Youth Support volunteering. She will work in after-school centres for disadvantaged communities helping with homework, mentoring, teaching English, and leading summer camp activities. Devina was also awarded Ā£1,000 towards the costs of this trip.

A total of three scholarships were available this year (we did not award any in 2020/2021 due to the pandemic), and as only two of this year’s three were awarded, we will therefore roll over the third scholarship to next 2023.
