Welcome To The Sixth Form

Our new Sixth Form Centre, Linhope House, has increased our dedicated Sixth Form space by 300% (663 sqm). This unique building combines an elegant, Georgian exterior and traditional features, such as The Reading Room, with a state of the art interior including a Think Lab and collaborative learning and study spaces, providing the perfect transition between school and university.

Student voice is key at FHS and Sixth Form students had significant input into the design of the interior, where natural materials, cool colours and abundant natural light have resulted in a calm and serene Scandinavian-style decor. The spacious Common Room features a bio-farm plant wall, known to increase wellbeing, productivity and attention spans, creating the ideal environment for Sixth Form learning.

Our Sixth Form is characterised by a strong scholarly ethos balanced by much laughter and fun. We offer an outstanding standard of pastoral care and pride ourselves on supporting each individual in their Sixth Form journey. We retain an inclusive and supportive family atmosphere while being able to offer a wide range of A Level subjects. Teaching groups are smaller, offering more intensive tuition. Our teachers offer unstinting encouragement and support, and expect you to be highly motivated.

There is far more to Sixth Form life at FHS than A Levels. The Sixth Form programme is designed to prepare you for life, not only examinations, and to broaden your education.

The two years spent in the Sixth Form should be the highlight of any girlā€™s school career. There is more freedom to manage your time and wear your own clothes, but most importantly it is a time when you will make decisions about higher education and your future. We will be here to help every step of the way.

FHS is renowned for its friendly atmosphere. You will discover opportunities for leadership, initiative and responsibility throughout your two years in the Sixth Form. The close proximity of Linhope House to the Ivor Place site, just a two minute walk away, ensures that you will gain a level of independence but retain your important roles as pastoral ambassadors and leadership role models for the lower years. Volunteer for anything or everything that seizes your enthusiasm and interest!
