Digital Learning

Digital Learning is an important part of our Teaching and Learning provision at Francis Holland School.

We have adopted a Microsoft digital device programme for pupils when they join the school at 11+ and 16+. We are a Microsoft School which means all teachers have the same devices and can use them well to support pupils’ digital learning in lessons. It is imperative that all our pupils have similar devices for a consistent approach to teaching and learning. We have invested extensively in our digital infrastructure, improving Wi-Fi throughout the School, and developing our use of Office 365 including Teams and OneNote. Digital inking is an integral part of teaching and learning, allowing pupils to interact with resources in transformative ways, whilst audio recording has prompted pupils to make their ‘thinking visible’. Students are increasingly using digital textbooks, stretch and challenge online resources such as Massolit, and learning how to avoid plagiarism by using Turnitin Similarity. We teach pupils how best to use AI tools for their learning, whilst at all times, upholding academic integrity. This is why our whole school referencing approach is so important when navigating the complexities of AI use.

Embedding strong digital literacy within our curriculum is an essential part of our education provision.
