From 7th – 18th June, Lower Fourth classes have had the opportunity to visit London Zoo. Orielle and Natalie took the time to tell us about their experience of the trip.

“We began with a leisurely walk through Regent’s Park to get to ZSL London Zoo and, on the way, we even caught a quick glimpse of the giraffes and the zebras.

We were then led into the education centre where we listened to an interesting presentation about adaptation in animals, something we had looked at in our Biology lessons earlier in the year. The talk also provided us with a chance to interact with some animal remains including a huge stuffed sea turtle still in its shell, camel fur, a stuffed owl, snake skins and some very impressive skulls!

After that, we were able to have a look at some of the live animals. Favourites included the giraffes (who were constantly eating), the warthogs (who seemed very tired), the hilarious penguins (who were diving in the water and swimming right up close to us) and of course the tiny pygmy hippopotamus. He was adorable!

The trip was great fun and came as a very welcome change for us all as we missed so many trips during the lockdown!”
