Today has been a very special day at Francis Holland as we wish our UVI Class of 2024 as they embark on study leave for their A Levels, before moving on to the next exciting chapter of their lives.

We held a whole school assembly to thank the year group for their immense contribution to school life. Our Head, Mrs Woodcock, delivered a wonderful speech, underscoring girls’ enduring impact on the school and emphasising that their departure is but a temporary farewell as they will forever remain an integral part of the FHS community. Drawing inspiration from Ikigai, she shared 10 guiding principles for life.

Following Katharine’s address, girls from each year group delivered a series of speeches, sharing anecdotes and fond memories of time spent with the UVI, before passing the baton to our outgoing Head Girl, Isabel. Reflecting on her transformative journey at FHS, Isabel expressed gratitude to all the girls, teachers and support staff at FHS. She also personally thanked Emma Williams for her amazing support as Head of Sixth Form.

Subsequently, our outgoing Deputy Head Girl, Maya Pilkington, echoed these heartfelt sentiments, likening the FHS community to family. A poignant video presentation, curated by Maya herself, captured cherished moments of camaraderie among sixth formers and teachers. From heartfelt singing to infectious dancing, the video showcased a montage of memories spanning seven epic years at FHS. The assembly drew to a close with a performance of ABBA’s “Slipping Through my Fingers” by the entire year group.

Good luck, Class of 2024! We couldn’t be more proud of you, we can’t wait to hear all about your next adventures and we look forward to welcoming you back as members of our alumni community, Quondam.
