Our first music event of the Spring Term was a wonderful early evening concert. Girls were invited to perform and the concert included a range of solos and duets, from the Thirds to girls from the Lower Sixth. We were treated to some fantastic vocal performances that included repertoire from musicals and film. Daisy Fuss in Lower Fourth accompanied herself on the piano singing Billie Eilish’sā€™ Bond Theme, No Time To Die.

Jec Deitch and Penelope Bilmes sang a most engaging duet, For Good from Wicked. Emily Krohn showed real resilience, marking her first solo in seven years by singing Michael BublĆ©ā€™s Feeling Good. Orielle Garson-Sweidan raised the roof in Part of Your World that contrasted with Abigail Morrisā€™ moving The Dark Island and Tamaara Somasundaramā€™s vocal performance. Students from the Lower Fifth, Dyala Alusi and Charlotte Houseley, performed Leonard Bernstein’s I Feel Pretty with great panache! Lower Sixth music scholars Charlie Rhodes and Amber Hill gave mature performances with songs from musicals, Everybodyā€™s Talking About Jamie and Smash

Instrumental items included musical piano performances: music scholars Mariella Checkley performing Debussyā€™s Clair de Lune and Lillian Ariakish playing Mia and Sebastianā€™s Theme from La La Land. Athena Rialas showed sensitivity when performing Page d’album by Debussy. Aphra Jacobs-Clark opened the concert with a movement from a cello sonata by Bach, and Lily Appleby demonstrated neat articulation on the flute in a piece by Sullivan. The Hall resounded with the fantastic drum performance by Julia Johnson, with tight rhythms throughout.

Very well done to all girls who took part in the concert – you were all brilliant!
