Early this week, some of the Lower and Upper Sixth went to see Wicked, the hit West-End production. We all met at the entrances to the Theatre at 7pm and were buzzing with excitement as we waited impatiently for the teachers to arrive to give us our tickets. The cast was incredible, and their voices both touched and shocked us all – especially Elphaba’s. Our seats had a perfect view of the stage too! Many of us were immensely captivated by their costumes, especially Glinda’s glistening blue gown, and simplistic white school outfit. We thought that the acrobatic actors who portrayed the flying monkeys were particularly eye-catching, and their flexibilities mimicked the flying actions incredibly well. It was particularly hilarious as the teachers were sitting on the row behind most of us, meaning that we could hear them singing along to Defying Gravity *cough cough Mr Cheung*, and gasping whenever something shocking or unexpected happened. There was a comical moment when two of the main characters kissed, and both us and the teachers were cheering and celebrating. Overall, it was a tonne of fun, and a trip that we will never forget. Thank you to Ms Melchers, Mr Gridelli and the Sixth Form team for taking us back to the theatre!
