This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme for 2021 is nature!!

As aptly described by the Mental Health Foundation, “Connecting with nature is not just about the amount of time we spend outdoors; it is also about building a relationship with nature by noticing and becoming sensitive to what is around us. […] Connecting with nature not only improves our physical health but our mental health too!”

The Library has created a display that celebrates the great outdoors and students are encouraged to keep a nature journal, go for walks, listen to birdsong, watch a nature documentary, and maybe even pot a plant.

As usual, we have also provided a booklist for our readers featuring titles such as The Natural Health Service by Isabel Hardman, Diary of a Young Naturalist by Dara McAnulty and Teen Breathe– a popular bi-monthly magazine for ages 8-14 covering topics including mindfulness, wellbeing, creativity and health.
