This week we have been celebrating LGBT+ History Month with three days of activities! On Monday, the Diversity Society led an assembly celebrating famous LGBT+ women throughout history, including Flora Murray CBE, Sally Ride and Lynn Conway. Well, done to Pepper (UV), Abigail (LV) and Hannah (LVI) for leading the assembly. At breaktime, students could take advantage of the LGBT+ stand in the foyer to show their support, collect quizzes and stickers. The ‘Design an LGBT+ Badge’ competition was also launched by the Art Department, encouraging students to design a new pin badge to celebrate LGBT+ History Month 2025 and enter a national competition for Schools OUT. On Tuesday, UIV – UVIĀ  students enjoyed a talk from Cheer Huang, Senior User Researcher/Senior Consultant, on her experience as a member of the LGBT+ community. Finally on Wednesday, a spectacular rainbow of cakes was on offer during breaktime for a special LGBT+ themed bake sale. We raised Ā£246! This will go to London-based charity ‘akt’ who support LGBT+ youth who are experiencing homelessness. There was also a screening of ‘Young Royals’ at lunchtime attended by LV ā€“ UVI students only.Ā Ā

Huge thank you to all who have been involved in supporting all the fantastic initiatives this week.Ā
