On Wednesday, the FHS community joined together in celebrating International Women’s Day with a day of activities focused on channelling this year’s theme of #EmbraceEquity, all whilst raising money for the Malala Foundation.

With staff and students dressed in their finest purple garments, the celebrations began during breaktime with delicious purple-iced cupcakes for every student and a polaroid photobooth for girls to proudly show off the #EmbraceEquity pose.

Lunchtime saw a fabulous Book Fair hosted by Daunt Books, featuring books written by women and championing strong female protagonists, followed by an assembly led by FHS’s very own Feminist Society. In their assembly, members of the Feminist Society explored the history of International Women’s Day, celebrated powerful women from past and present, and explained the important difference between equality and equity, highlighting that for a fair and inclusive society we all must strive towards equity for all.

Thank you to our community for coming together to celebrate another brilliant International Women’s Day. We can’t wait for the next!
