This week, we have been delighted to hear that Orielle in the Lower Fourth has been placed 2nd in the KS3/4 Prose category of the GSA 2021 Creative Writing Competition. The winning entries will be formally announced at GSA’s Virtual Summer Briefing event on 14 June and on the GSA website.
Here, Orielle reflects on the writing competition:
‘A Lesson from Lockdown’ might seem like an obvious creative writing title, but it was a less obvious garden mouse continuously falling down whilst trying to jump onto a wall that provided my inspiration. His resilience on a frosty day seemed to echo our lockdown experience. We persevered and eventually succeeded. As did I with writing competitions. Finally! This wasn’t the first competition that I entered this year, but I could not have been more ecstatic to have made it over my wall and come second in such a prestigious competition. So, to all girls at FHS, don’t stop climbing your wall because undoubtedly you will reach the top.
