Discovery Week: MFL Trips to European Cities!

A group of thirteen young people stands in front of the ornate façade of Florence Cathedral, casting long shadows on the sunlit pavement.

During this year’s Discovery Week, groups of Lower Fifth and Lower Sixth pupils jetted off on a series of exciting European adventures, immersing themselves in the language, culture, and history of three vibrant cities.

In Alicante, the girls soaked up the Spanish sunshine while enjoying paella tasting, flamenco dance classes, and exploring the city’s lively streets.

Those visiting Florence experienced the very best of the Renaissance capital –  from panoramic views at Piazzale Michelangelo and visits to iconic sites like Ponte Vecchio and Santa Maria del Fiore, to recreating artwork in the Uffizi Gallery, peaceful strolls along the river (lungoarnos!) and joyful evening dance lessons.

Meanwhile, in Bordeaux, pupils explored the city’s rich heritage, admired its classical architecture, and honed their French while taking part in workshops and excursions. They also ventured to Arcachon on the coast to enjoy the stunning views at Dune du Pyla!

These unforgettable trips each year help our pupils to contextualise their classroom learning, deepen their global perspectives, enhance their learning of language and culture, and leave them with lifelong memories of friendship, exploration, and discovery!
