Class of 1992 alumna, Clover Lewis works as a Midwife in Australia. She got in touch to tell us about the challenges COVID-19 has brought to her profession and family life

“Hi, I’m Clover Lewis. I left FHS in 1992 and work as a frontline worker in Australia as a Midwife in a busy hospital. COVID-19 has brought us many challenges at work and we are still fine tuning certain aspects, in relation to the birth and delivery of babies during this time.

I have three daughters who have been home schooled for the last three weeks as we reach stage three of the pandemic plan. No social gatherings, only leaving the house to exercise or visit the supermarket or the doctors. My daughters have become very artistic!

Today is my birthday. Self-isolation is very hard on days like these. I’d love to go out for dinner but I will wait, as nowhere is open anyway!

I miss the UK and friends and family but I am very grateful to have a husband who can work from home whilst I work in the hospital.

It’s great to be recognised on the frontline. We have a Facebook group called “ Adopt a HealthcareWorker NSW” which has provided much support.”

A huge thank you to Clover for getting in touch. It is fantastic to receive messages like this from our FHS alumni community.
