Over the last few days of term as well as the first weekend of half term, 11 girls from the LV and LVI had the privilege of travelling to New York for a culture trip along with Mrs Simons and Mrs Simmons. Across the five days, we visited several cultural landmarks and experiences such as the Empire State Building, The Metropolitan museum, riding the Staten Island ferry to see the Statue of Liberty , ice skating in Central Park, and watching a Broadway show! However, my highlight of the trip was the day we spent at Chapin School. The girls and staff were incredibly friendly, and I quickly began talking to them and socialising. We were given personalised timetables for the day, and my lessons were biology, history and PSHE. In some aspects the lessons were quite similar to ours – especially history. But by far the biggest difference was the fact the students could simply stand up and go to the bathroom without asking! Overall it was an amazing experience that I valued and learnt alot from – and I would definitely recommend this trip for anyone considering going next time the opportunity is available.

Our school trip to NYC over half term was an amazing experience, that I am lucky to have been a part of. From the excitement of getting on the plane at Heathrow to seeing New York from all different angles! As part of the trip we visited Chapin School, with whom we have a partnership. I loved seeing how the girls that are our age lived their everyday life at Chapin School and seeing the differences but also the similarities in how the school worked.Ā  For example something that shocked me was that the girls would get up during class without having to ask the teachers to go out and how they also were not allowed their phones just like us. We all made so many friends and memories during the few hours we spent at the Chapin School. We went to see Hadestown on Broadway which was an incredible show with amazing music and singers. We also got to go to the top of the Empire State Building where we got to see amazing views of the city from above. We also went to Central Park to go ice-skating and had an amazing time skating all together. After out ice-skating trip we headed back to the hotel walking through the city during sunset where I got some amazing photos. We also had time for a spontaneous trip to Sephora and we also got to see a wedding proposal! All in all it was an incredible experience where I got to bond with so many friends and make new friendships.
