On Monday 29th April, we were joined by Nina Millns, writer, actor, activist and founding member of the Consent Collective, for this week’s Sixth Form Lecture.
When we hear or read about consent, it is often in the context of sexual assault or intimate partner violence. While these are definitely conversations that we should be having, not enough people are talking about why consent matters in healthy relationships. In her talk, entitled ĀMy Body, My Space, My ChoiceĀ, Nina encourages conversations about consent, healthy relationships and pleasure.
This week, we discovered that consent can also affect long-term relationships, therefore it is important to reflect upon what consent is within the context of relationships and how to ensure that our needs are met.
During the Q&A session, our students engaged well and asked some very thoughtful questions.
