On Tuesday 5th October, we enjoyed an early evening concert of real musicianship from FHS music scholars & exhibitioners.

Music performed was ambitious and varied, ranging from Charlie Rhodes’ moving rendition of Breathe from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights to a Balakirev-Glinka transcription, The Skylark performed with virtuosity by Young Musician winner, Scarlett Brandman. The music scholars in the Thirds performed with great poise: Lillia performing Le Onder by Einaudi very musically and Fiona Jin finding real colours and life in Opening Night Jazz. Other items included strong violin performances from Grace, Rose & Ella and a brave horn solo from Tamaara Somasundaran in LIV. UVI girls, in the midst of UCAS, chose reflective repertoire, including Maria’s musical performance of Scriabin’s Prelude 11. Jazzy Charrap found real colours on the piano in Reverie by Debussy. UIV music scholar, Mariella,  performed Bach Partita with real aplomb. Greta demonstrated her vocal range in Gershwin’s Someone to Watch Over Me.

Well done to all, including ‘Stage Manager’ for the concert, Inez Dehnugara!
