Following on from our successful Widening Access to Selective Universities Conference in February 2019 and “Teachers like me”: Building Ethnic Diversity in the Staff Room Conference in November 2021, Headmaster Charles Fillingham attended the HMC School Bursaries and Partnerships Conference this week to discuss a new resource which aims to aid pupils from less advantaged backgrounds in setting high post-18 aspirations.

Destination University is a collaborative toolkit which contains 31 practical tips for schools supporting students applying for selective universities. Propelled by Mr Fillingham, it is the result of a collaboration between universities, schools (state and independent) and organisations concerned with social mobility.

The online resource published today has been nearly 12 months in the making and it comes as a result of genuine collaboration of schools, colleges, universities and third sector organisations. Destination University is a great example of many people working together for the good of our whole society. It contains practical hints and tips which will be helpful whatever setting we work in. – Mr Fillingham
