On Wednesday 1st May we held our Jujiro Cultural and Creative Industries Event.
We welcomed alumna Tamsin Ogilvie (class of 1988) back to FHS, who spoke about her career in the film industry as a set designer. Her career has seen her work as a model maker, a film industry set designer and as a prolific graphic designer at Tamsin Ogilvie Studio. Tamsin described her time at FHS with absolute positivity, observing that the school enabled her for the world of work by Āmaking us feel we could do itĀ.
Tamsin encouraged students to Āfollow and fight for their passionsĀ, speaking of her joy at being able to combine earning with the love of her chosen career.
Tamsin was joined by parent Jane Suitor, Director and Founder of Found Art Consultancy, and Cristian Albu, Senior Specialist and Director in Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christies.
All three professionals were united in their advice to the audience of students and staff. Firstly, that Āknowledge is kingĀ (read as much as possible), secondly be hungry and determined for the next phase of life and understand that age should not negate a career change or ambition (Āwe all bloom at different stagesĀ). Lastly, the trio encouraged students to Ādare to dreamĀ, believing in Āyourself, your dreams and your possibilitiesĀ and not letting rejection or despair to get in the way of achieving goals.
The panel answered a host of questions from staff and students, ending on the all-important advice to ĀDonĀt be the person who sees the problems; be the person who comes up with solutionsĀ.
