This week, two groups of LVI pupils visited two separate engineering companies as part of their Industrial Cadet Gold Award. Now in its third year at FHS, the programme partners teams of 4-6 LVI pupils with mentors in engineering companies, giving them a real-world engineering problem to solve over the course of 7 months. The program culminates with a written technical report, a model of their project and a presentation to a panel of external engineers. Part of the programme involves a company visit.

On Thursday 24th March, one of our teams visited PCS Instruments in West London. PCS instruments design and manufacture laboratory instruments for testing fuels and lubricants. The other team visited Ramboll in Central London on Tuesday 29th March. Ramboll is a global architecture, engineering and consultancy company. The FHS teams went on fantastic tours of the companies, were given engineering challenges and feedback on their project, and were treated to an amazing lunch! Both teams gave presentations on their progress on their projects to a panel of engineers. Our FHS engineers did a tremendous job, and it was a great day out for both teams!
