The first week of the Easter Holidays saw some the UVI Art Historians led by Miss Dobell and Miss MacDonnell in Rome and Florence.

We went to see many of the works of art and architecture that the girls have studied in class. In is always so amazing to see these works at first hand, all of us, whether we are seeing something for the first time and for the hundredth are amazed by the reality of the building, sculpture or painting. These cities also provide us with the opportunity to see the work of art in its original context, the frescoes of Masaccio in the Brancacci Chapel, or the work of Fra Angelico in the convent of San Marco – this is a wonderful privilege and one we fully appreciated .
