“I got chills, they’re multiplyin’!”

This week, pupils from UIV to LVI delivered amazing performances of the musical classic Grease! Two talented casts have treated audiences to four dazzling performances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. Parents, families, friends and teachers joined us at Rydell High for upbeat classics such as ‘You’re the One that I want’ and ‘Greased Lightnin’, as well as heartfelt ballads like ‘There are Worse Things I Could Do’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’ and ‘Sandy’.

The first performance on Wednesday afternoon saw pupils from a local primary school visit to join in the fun with the first cast, before the second cast took to the stage for the evening performance. Audience members with a close eye on the programme noticed a Surprise Guest playing Johnny Casino. As we geared up for the School Dance scene, Mr Favreau and Mr Cheung appeared, microphone in-hand, to perform Hand Jive with the cast!

Congratulations to all involved including the amazing cast, the dedicated student tech team, the professional band led by Ms Murphy, and to Mrs Simmons, Miss Trump and Miss Babooram for their amazing work preparing the girls through many rehearsals.

Wop baba lumop a wap bam boom!

Working in the cast of Grease has been so much fun. Everyone is so talented and we have been working together to make sure this production is the best FHS has ever done. From long rehearsals after school, to taking up our lunch to run through a dance, the whole experience has been a blast. I love how the school musicals bring so many years together, from the UIV to the UVI, and I canā€™t wait to share it with younger years as I move up into Sixth Form. We performed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night, making the most out of the experience. I hope that everyone that came and supported us loved it as much as we did. Thank you to all the staff that helped, especially Miss Trump and Mrs Simmons. Grease is not a cast, itā€™s a family.

I absolutely loved Grease! It was amazing. My favourite scene was the second last song, ā€˜Youā€™re the one that I Wantā€™. I loved how good everyone was at singing and dancing. I also loved all the songs the main cast sang on their own, especially ā€˜Sandyā€™, ā€˜The worst thing I Could Doā€™ and ā€˜Hopelessly Devotedā€™. Overall, it was a great experience and I would love to go again.
