Drop everything and read.

From 10th to 21st January, our students will not receive traditional homework but will instead be given time to read.

For some, it will be a chance to make a dent in their TBR (to-be-read) pile which, if it’s anything like mine, is constantly being added to and expanding beyond the bookcase into every nook and cranny of the house (it’s potentially hazardous.) For others, this will be an opportunity to engage with the further reading that has been set in class or can be found in the pages of the Stretch and Challenge booklet; a chance to explore an interest and deeper their reservoirs of knowledge beyond the constraints of the syllabus.

For all, it is a chance to add some books to the final tally of the Advent Reading ChallengeĀ and gain a few more house points. Will Mars finally triumph this year? (Us Martians can only hope.)

This could also be a good time to revisit our reading lists and book trees on SharePoint.

And parents why don’t you join in too? Have fun exploring and learning, look through windows to other worlds and find out something about yourself too, and drop everything and read together!
