On Monday 7th November, FHS physicists celebrated Marie Curie’s 155th birthday. Marie Curie conducted pioneering research on radioactivity, was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two scientific fields (Physics and Chemistry). Ella N and Chloe M kicked off the celebration by delivering speeches on Marie Curie’s greatness! This was followed by a beautiful cake made by our incredibly talented Catering Manager, Gabriel Martinez Fernandez. Year 13 Physicist Nevis D, who shares her birthday with Marie, had the honour of cutting the cake. We all enjoyed a bit of dancing to Polish dance music while we devoured the cake and doughnuts! Happy birthday to Marie and Nevis, physicists old and young!
