As part of Black History Month, we were honoured to have Detective Inspector Ahenkora Bediako chatting to our Sixth Form and Diversity Committee today.

Having worked as a police officer for 15 years in emergency response, internal investigations, anti-corruption and various investigative departments, Ahenkora currently works within the Modern Slavery & Child Exploitation unit.

Today he shared his experiences of being in the police force, the changes heā€™s observed since the murder of George Floyd and the BLM protests in 2020, how to tackle racism and his hopes for the future generations. It was a very thought-provoking, timely, uplifting and empowering conversation which concluded with his wise words ā€œ You have so much to give, you have dreams, you have power-donā€™t let anyone take that away from you. You are the ones that are going to change this worldā€.

Here at Francis Holland, we couldnā€™t agree more.
