We look forward to welcoming pupils back next week to begin the DEAR Reading Challenge!

Students in the Thirds and Lower Fourth received a visual feast of book recommendations from the library to accompany their festive break and were encouraged to snuggle up with a good book over the three weeks. This week the challenge itself begins!

Miss Lawrence is asking students to continue reading instead of homework and to submit at least one book review by the end of Friday. If they can manage one for each category during the spring term then they’ll be in for a literary treat!

The categories are:

Historical fiction (starring The Chestnut RoasterRosie Raja and Echo Mountain).

Adventures and fantasy (Impossible CreaturesMia and the Lightcasters and Wintersmith)

Mysteries (Lizzie and BelleThe Elemental Detectives, and some remarkable ladies)

Chillers (Dreadwood, Lockwood & Co. and Tokyo Ghost Cafés)

Our favourite Non-Fiction (Pets and their Famous HumansRoots of Happiness, and The Mathematics of Christmas)

We hope every student will find a gift of a book in this pile.

Happy reading!
