As part of Black History Month, we were honoured to have Detective Inspector Ahenkora Bediako chatting to our Sixth Form and Diversity Committee today.

Having worked as a police officer for 15 years in emergency response, internal investigations, anti-corruption and various investigative departments, Ahenkora currently works within the Modern Slavery & Child Exploitation unit.

Today he shared his experiences of being in the police force, the changes he’s observed since the murder of George Floyd and the BLM protests in 2020, how to tackle racism and his hopes for the future generations. It was a very thought-provoking, timely, uplifting and empowering conversation which concluded with his wise words “ You have so much to give, you have dreams, you have power-don’t let anyone take that away from you. You are the ones that are going to change this world”.

Here at Francis Holland, we couldn’t agree more.
