A selection of top achievers in Year 9 have been selected to participate in an exciting collaboration with the Royal Institute of British Architectures and St Marylebone School.

The RIBA Architecture Ambassadors Scheme sees our students partner with an architectural studio to take on the challenge based around “Sustainability and Re-Use”. Students will be formed into teams to re-imagine what a specific location could look like decades down the line (when their buildings might be up for demolition / renovation / redesign). Each team will look at taking apart their building and putting it back together, carefully selecting which elements they will be reusing.

Our partner studio will be Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBS) who were named Building Design Refurbishment Architect of the Year and have won 60 RIBA awards. We will be looking at innovative new facades and spaces that are still very much drawing on the essence of the old buildings and utilising the available resources sustainably. For the final submission, students will be expected to produce a set of drawings, and/or models and possibly 3D views of relevant aspects of their projects put together in a digital presentation. There are a total of three workshops and students will be working independently on the projects in between these times.
