On Tuesday 12^th November 2019, two teams from Francis Holland competed against teams from 20 other schools in the regional heat of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench Competition.

Thalia Gavin, Alice Mitcheson, Samira Bhutani and Carlotta Negretti were Team X and Team Y consisted of Ruby Reed, Chloe Martinez, Riana Banga and Alicia Levy. Both teams acquitted themselves extremely well on a 10 rounds of Chemistry questions which, in many cases, were well beyond the scope of a GCSE course. The opposition was tough with the overall winners scoring 89 marks out of a total of 100 but the girls from Francis Holland have every reason to be proud of their collective performances. We now look forward to next year in eager anticipation!
