On Wednesday, it was a pleasure to welcome our Upper Fifth and so many new faces to our Sixth Form Open Evening.
The evening began with tours of our brand new Sixth Form Centre, Linhope House, which has increased dedicated Sixth Form space by 300%, by current members of the Upper Sixth. Our guests enjoyed exploring the spacious Common Room (featuring a Bio-farm Plant Wall, known to increase productivity and well-being, and calm, Scandinavian-style decor chosen by the girls!), the Think Lab and the Old Prefectsā Library, as well as collaborative learning and study spaces providing the perfect transition between school and university, and speaking to Sixth Formers and senior members of staff about their enjoyment of this wonderful building since it opened three weeks ago.
Everyone then made their way to the Ivor Place site, just a two minute walk away, where they enjoyed delicious refreshments in the library before taking their seats in the Senior Hall. Headmistress Mrs Woodcock welcomed our guests with an impassioned talk about her distinctive vision for the FHS Sixth Form and her excitement about having joined at such an exciting time in the Schoolās development, before we heard from Head of Sixth Form Mr Gridelli, Head of Futures Ms Williams and Head Girl Saskia about the many intricacies and opportunities of life in the FHS Sixth Form community.
For the final proportion of the evening, our guests were given tours around the Ivor Place site and enjoyed talks by our Heads of Department on the Sixth Form curriculum for their subjects.
Thank you so much to all who came and made the evening such a success. To find out more or register for Sixth Form entry in September 2023, please follow this link.
