Leaving Footprints that Last by Amber Moore

We were delighted to welcome Amber Moore, who is a women’s leadership and communication skills specialist, as well as the mother of a current FHS pupil. This was an interactive session and Amber asked the Sixth Form to think of some excellent leaders and some terrible ones, then to identify their characteristics and behaviours.
She asked ‘What is leadership?’ and reminded us that we are all leaders and role models for those around us, whether we like it or not! We looked at some women who have made a difference, very different people who have made their mark in unique ways. We watched a video of the street poet, Vanessa Kisuule, performing ‘Take up Space’, in which she urges women to be confident and to use their voice.
Amber encouraged the Sixth Form to step out of their comfort zone and embrace risks, to get used to feeling comfortable, feeling uncomfortable. Very many thanks to Amber for an extremely thought-provoking and affirming talk.
