On Friday 10th November, our FHS community gathered in the Hall to mark Remembrance Day with a moving assembly led by the Head, Mrs Woodcock. This poignant occasion was an opportunity for our staff and pupils to assemble and remember those who gave their lives for our country, as well as an opportunity for us to pray for peace at home and worldwide. The assembly began with an address from Mrs Woodcock who reflected on the history of Armistice Day, followed by three moving performances by our musicians: Dominique performing an Elgar violin solo and two extracts from DuruflĆ©’s Requiem: Sanctus performed by the Senior Choir and Pie Jesu sung by Louna. We then stood for ‘The Last Post’ and observed a two-minute silence. The service concluded with Mrs Woodcock’s reading of The Exhortation.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:Ā
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
