We are thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s two Travel Scholarships: Class of 2014’s Hanna Bayoudhi and Devina Loomba, who left Francis Holland in 2020.

Hanna, a Civil Engineer, is currently embarking on a trip to Liberia where she will be working to provide infrastucture support (assisting with the construction of tracks and bridge structures) to facilitate transport for communutites during the rainy season, when flooding poses a bigger risk. Liberia is one of the most underdeveloped nations in the world; the main beneficiaries of the trip will be the rural communities who will be connected to markets by track construction. Hanna was awarded £1,000 towards the costs of this trip.

Devina, who is currently mid-way through an undergraduate degree in Anthropology, will be travelling to Spain this summer, where she will be volunteering for a programme run by IVHQ, called Youth Support volunteering. She will work in after-school centres for disadvantaged communities helping with homework, mentoring, teaching English, and leading summer camp activities. Devina was also awarded £1,000 towards the costs of this trip.
