On Tuesday, a group of girls from the LIV and UIV teamed up to participate in a maths competition against our sister school Francis Holland School, Sloane Square.

Many of us had never taken part in anything like this before, making it an exciting but slightly nerve-wracking experience. After the trouble of attempting to catch a train during rush hour with 16 girls and 2 teachers, we managed to get there in one piece. When we arrived, we took our seats in our teams of 4 and began the first round of the competition: the group round, where teams must work together to solve 10 questions in 45 minutes. Teams also had to decide how to approach the questions: usually starting with each person individually attempting a question, then moving to pairs and then groups. These questions were particularly challenging and required a team effort to complete them. The second round was the shuttle, where teams were split into pairs and had to answer 2 questions each in 8 minutes with 4 rounds in total. However, an answer from each question is needed for the next and a wrong answer from the start can result in all of the answers being incorrect. The final round was the relay, which was my favourite round. In this round, teams are split into pairs but are on separate tables. The aim of the game is to answer as many questions correctly as you can as a team to get more points. We had 45 minutes to complete these questions. After one pair had answered their question, they had to collect the other pairā€™s sheet to run over to them. This round was definitely the most entertaining and everyone enjoyed it!

A hugeĀ congratulationsĀ to Maha, Flavia, Fatima and Rei for winning overall! Well done to Rei for winning the individual prize for team spirit! Thank you to Sloane Square for hosting this event. A special mention for Ms Riviere and Ms Murugan for taking us to this, we couldnā€™t have done it without you! Finally, well done to all the girls who competed in the competition!
