On Friday, the FHS community joined together in celebrating International Women’s Day with a day of activities focused on channelling this year’s theme of #InspireInclusion, all whilst raising money for the Malala Fund. We welcomed Ellie Newton, the Director of the Trouble Club, who highlighted 3 of favourite women speakers at the Club. During the assembly Ellie shared what has inspired her from the lives of Zarifa Ghafari youngest to be appointed mayor in Afghanistan, Jung Chang; author of Wild Swans and Margaret Atwood, author of the Handmaids Tale.

At breaktime students and staff dressed in their finest purple, white and green garments continued the celebrations with delicious cupcakes for every student. They also had a chance to take photographs in the incredibly popular Instagram frame! Lunchtime saw a fabulous Book Fair hosted by Daunt Books, featuring books written by women and championing strong female protagonists. Thank you to everyone for coming together as a community to celebrate another brilliant International Women’s Day. We are already excited about 2025!
