Lower Fourth began their trips around London with a visit to the British Library, accompanied by our School Librarian Miss Lawrence.

After having admired the cruise liner architecture in the Courtyard, the girls headed inside to explore the Treasures Room, home to some of the nation’s most precious literary works. They discovered the first woman to print under her own name, the recipient of a letter from Jane Austen, and how many jigsaw pieces are in a globe, as well as marvelling at the Magna Carta, Codex Sinaiticus, Shakespeare’s First Folio, music from a range of composers, and Andrea Levy’s archives (a recent acquisition).

Those who had visited before were particularly excited to see the new exhibits recognising the part that women and Black British communities have had on our history.
