As a school, we marked School Diversity Week, dedicated to celebrating and promoting diversity and inclusion within our community. The week began with a non-uniform day themed around “This is Me,” encouraging students’ freedom of expression. A very well done and thank you to Anabelle B (IIIW), Imogen W (LIVT), Beth H (LVM), Alisa C (LIVO), Sophia R (IIIW), and Cora V-A (LIVO) for delivering an inspiring assembly that highlighted the importance of recognising and celebrating differences. They helped us reflect on our values and actions and commit to creating a more just and inclusive world.Ā
During lunchtime, students enjoyed spending time in the photobooth, capturing fun and memorable pictures. Over the course of the week, students also had the option to access an LGBT+ focused reading list and a diversity-themed quiz from the library. During form time, they considered the contributions of LGBT+ people to society in honour of Pride Month.Ā
Many thanks to the Creative Writing Club for running an inclusive session that gave students the chance to reimagine familiar stories through new perspectives, and to the Literature Society for their discussion of texts exploring identity and cultural diversity.Ā
This week of celebration and education underscored our school’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, aligning with our foundational values. As the week concluded, students and staff alike were inspired to continue advocating for diversity and inclusion throughout the year.Ā
