As we look forward to the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6th May 2023, we have spent this week celebrating and commemorating this truly epic moment in British history.

We have a long held special connection with the Royal Family as our founder Canon Francis Holland was appointed Chaplain to Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is a joyous moment for our FHS community and we look forward to celebrating the values of service and duty which are epitomised by our Royal Family on a daily basis; providing true inspiration to our students.

On Wednesday, Mrs Woodcock led a brilliant Coronation assembly in which she explored the fascinating history of British Coronations, with the aid of some amazing personal memorabilia from her father who was alive for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. We also enjoyed listening to Parry’s ever-poignant “I Was Glad”, a choral introit which has been performed at every Coronation since that of Charles I in 1626, and partook in a rousing whole-school performance of the national anthem.

Today, our British flag is waving proudly and the school is adorned with festive decorations as we approach the final 24 hour countdown to the Coronation. Thank you to our wonderful catering team for producing 800 delicious Coronation-themed cupcakes to be enjoyed at break!

We would like to send our best wishes to King Charles III and Queen Camilla ahead of tomorrow’s Coronation, and we wish His Majesty, the King a long and happy reign.
