On Thursday 23rd November, our beloved St Cyprian’s Church was packed to the rafters with excited FHS families and staff, for what turned out to be a truly phenomenal Autumn Concert.

The audience was spellbound throughout the evening by a diverse range of performances, all of superb quality and musicality. The first half saw brilliant pieces in a wide variety of genres by our choirs, orchestras and strings groups. We were also honoured to welcome coaches from the Royal Academy of Music, who have been working with the girls all term and joined our orchestra for a glorious first half finale.

The second half saw a selection of breath-taking solo and duet vocal performances and choir pieces, and our audience were wowed by musical theatre being creatively interwoven into the programme! Performers seamlessly appeared at the lectern, the back of the Church and in the isle amongst the audience, much to their surprise and delight.

Particular highlights included performances of Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel and the spectacular end to the concert: an incredible operatic performance of Georges Bizet’s Carmen by our immensely talented Upper Fifth Music Scholar, Louna.

Congratulations to every single one of our wonderful performers, and thank you so much to Ms Murphy and the rest of our magnificent Music Department. Looking forward to our Christmas Carol Service in only a few weeks, and to many more magical musical events to come in the 2023-24 academic year.
