This week, a group of girls from Lower School took a trip to Lord’s Cricket Ground to immerse themselves in the illustrious history of the game, and took to the pitch for some runs. Here’s what they had to say about the visit:

Our school trip taught me so much more about the history of cricket than I thought I knew. I didn’t know about how many successful female cricketers there are, because I donā€™t often see them covered in the media. Although you may not hear as much media coverage about female cricketers, we were shown that at Lordā€™s they are included in the all time best bowlers and batters boards, and quite often are ranked above men. It was really cool to sit inside the Media Centre and view the field from high up. Until our trip, I never knew about the pavilion and how many portraits there are of people who were involved in the founding of Lordā€™s. It was such a fun trip, and personally my favourite one so far!

I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Lord’s Cricket Ground, and I loved seeing the huge fields and learning about how they historically had a slope. My favourite part of the trip was sitting in the room where the press and journalists sit, as it was a little bubble-like room overlooking the grounds. I also thought our guide was very interesting and funny, and I’m excited for more trips in the future!
