The Physics department took 4 teams accompanied by Mr Ward and Dr MacTavish to NASA International Space Competition in Houston for girls in years 11 – 13 over half term.

The competition consisted of several tasks including; building and launching a rocket, designing and presenting a Mars habitat, building and programming a Mars Rover, building and testing a heat shield and cryogenic space glove along with a NASA diving course.

Over 20 teams from Canada, USA, Scotland and England participated and for the 6 team challenges and 18 awards available, FHS won 8 with each team winning at least 1 award and one team winning the competition outright. This was a tremendous achievement and all the girls worked exceptionally hard throughout.

Congratulations to the winning team from FHS in the International Physics/Space Competition at NASA Space Centre in Houston Texas.
