On Friday 30th September, FHS descended on Regent’s Park to participate in the annual Sponsored Walk!

Pupils from Years 7 – 13 walked laps of the park dressed in their finest fancy dress to raise money for charity. Disney characters, fairies, pirates, superheroes and children’s book characters injected the quiet Friday afternoon with colour and enthusiasm and soon a trail of fancy dress could be seen snaking around the park.

Every year the Sponsored Walk raises money for a cause chosen by students in the Help Fund. This year FHS are donating to Secondary1st who help fund research into the prevention, diagnosis and causes of secondary (metastatic) breast cancer and the development of more effective treatments. Over £16,000 has been raised with last minute donations still rolling in.

Furry friends joined the walk, with many dressed for the occasion. The cutest dog competition had some strong contenders with Liberty’s dachshund taking first prize.

I enjoyed the sponsored walk as it was extremely fun and interesting to admire everyone’s incredible costumes as well as walking with all my friends and teachers. This walk was also a great challenge as you are encouraged to keep going and know that it is for an absolutely amazing cause. Another brilliant part of the walk is all the dogs whether they were in costume or not they were all very enthusiastic. – Liberty, Thirds
