At this week’s Sixth Form Lecture, we welcomed Dan from Crisis and Kavan and Alex from Shelter to talk about their charities.
Dan, Kavan and Alex spoke about the amazing work their charities do to help homeless people and improve bad housing conditions. They gave us some background information about their charities, sharing with us their personal experience and divulging some heart-breaking figures on the number of homeless people in the UK and in London. Apart from helping homeless find shelter and food, these charities help and support people to get back on their feet and improve their lives.
We were extremely delighted therefore to be able to donate money to these incredible charities at the end of our weekly Sixth Form lecture. At the Christmas Fair, the Vintage Clothes stall raised an impressive £365, the highest amount of the day and a week later the Match-the-baby-picture-to-the-teacher Activity raised a further £68.
We could not be happier to support this cause and we hope that some of our students will become even more involved and volunteer at their various centres in the future.
