On Thursday 14 November, our Year 8 Scholars hosted the third workshop of the ongoing RIBA Architectural Programme series in partnership with St Marylebone CE School. Led by architect Alessandro Boi, the workshop brought together 20 students from both schools to collaboratively reimagine their final designs for a sustainable community centre in Regent’s Park.
With a focus on responding to the climate emergency, Alessandro guided students in exploring essential design themes, including infrastructure, environment, passive resilience, materials, health and well-being, people and community, delight, and performance. The session emphasised the importance of creating spaces with positive, restorative impacts on communities and the planet.
The workshop provided hands-on experience in sustainable design principles, encouraging students to think critically about how their designs could contribute to a healthier environment. This experience will directly support the students in preparing their final proposals, which they will pitch to MADE Architects in the Summer Term.
