On Monday 3rd July, parents, staff and members of the Lower Fourth attended the final presentations for the annual Science Fair.
All members of the Lower Fourth worked extremely hard to complete a project on a current area of amazing science research. The hall was packed to the rafters and the quality of the girls presentations were excellent.
The overall winners were Sophie Brown and Lorna Breadin in LIVJ, with a project titled Underwater Cities. The runners-up were Jasmina Charap and Isabel Diment-Vera in LIVS, whose project was What is the aftermath of nuclear disasters?.
Our judges Katia Pagano and Margot Smith are recent Polished Corners who have gone on to study science subjects at two of the countrys most prestigious universities. Katia is reading Physics at Imperial College London, and Margot is studying Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Both have fond memories of their time at Francis Holland, including taking part in the Science Fair many years ago!
Well done to all participants; your hard work made it a really successful Science Fair.
Mr Derek Ward
