Inter House Drama is always a highlight of the House competition calendar, and this year’s performances from pupils in Years 7–9 raised the already sky scraping bar even further!
Each year group devised original short pieces inspired by different themes. Year 7 explored Twisted Fairytales, delighting the audience with witty and satirical reimaginings such as “The Wolf Who Cried Boy” and “Red Riding Hood”, complete with clever humour and fourth-wall breaks.
Year 8 tackled Masks and Identity, producing thoughtful performances including a chat show where guests hid behind masks, and a creative adaptation of ‘Snow White’ whose characters’ true selves were only revealed to the audience through the mirror. Year 9 focused on Women of Influence, with powerful pieces such as a depiction of a female engineer at NASA struggling to be taken seriously because of her gender.
Judges were hugely impressed by the standard of work, repeatedly describing the pieces as original. The girls showed great care in every element of playmaking, from scriptwriting and casting to costume, props and staging. A special mention goes to our Year 7 pupils, who performed with confidence and courage in front of an audience of older peers!
Inter House Drama was a wonderful celebration of creativity and maturity, and a testament to the exceptional talent and imagination of our pupils at Francis Holland Regent’s Park
