From Questions to Conclusions: the Junior Science Fair

01/07/2026

Curiosity, creativity and scientific thinking –  it’s that time of year again… the Junior Science Fair!

The Science Fair is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to extend their learning beyond the curriculum, exploring scientific topics that genuinely capture their interests and passions. Working in pairs, pupils spent a number of weeks researching a question of their choice, before creating visual displays and pitching their findings to peers and teachers in the hope of securing a place in the final.

Parents were invited to join us for the big night, where finalists presented an impressive range of projects demonstrating both scientific rigour and real-world relevance. Research topics included the effect of sugary drinks on our teeth, whether different genres of music influence plant growth, and how the shape of an aeroplane’s wings affects its aerodynamics.

We were delighted to welcome three former Francis Holland Regent’s Park pupils back to school to judge the competition. Now studying and working in STEM-related fields, they were genuinely impressed by the depth of knowledge, quality of research and confidence with which every team presented their findings.

Events such as the Junior Science Fair exemplify our commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity and encouraging pupils to ask questions, think critically and develop a genuine love of scientific enquiry.

Congratulations to all of our Lower Fourth pupils on another outstanding Science Fair, and in particular to this year’s finalists for the exceptional standard of their work.
