We are incredibly proud to share that Francis Holland Regent’s Park has been awarded the St Mellitus Medal by the Bishop of London, Rt Revd & Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, in recognition of our significant contribution to the Christian life of London.
Named after St Mellitus, the first Saxon Bishop of London in 604 AD, the medal acknowledges “the school’s substantial and timely contribution to sustaining Christian worship and witness, especially in their unfailing welcoming, flexible and supportive hospitality to St Mary’s London in a time of vulnerability and crisis.”
When a burst water main left St Mary’s devastated by flooding in September, we were pleased to offer our space and support during their temporary relocation.
We were delighted to welcome the Revd Preb Clare Dowding (St Cyprian’s) and the Revd Matt Coombs (St Mary’s London) to present the medal during our Monday morning assembly. It was also a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school to thank our outstanding Facilities and IT teams, whose enormous generosity has enabled St Mary’s to relocate temporarily for their Sunday services.
Our links with the local community are precious to us. Compassion lies at the heart of our School, and this award is a humbling reminder of the quiet acts of kindness that can make a real difference.
A very special and proud moment for Francis Holland Regent’s Park, and a powerful reminder of the strength of service, community, and kindness.
