Francis Holland, Regent’s Park hosts first TEDx event!

Wednesday 6 November marked our inaugural TEDxFrancisHollandSchoolRegentsPark event, featuring eight of our Lower Sixth students.

TEDx events are independently organised TED Talks; they provide the platform for people from local communities to present their ideas to a live audience, and to share these ideas with the world via the TEDx YouTube channel.

The stimulus for our speakers was the opening clause of a sentence you may have heard before: I have a dream that one day… The girls were tasked with completing this sentence using their hopes and dreams for the future. These completed sentences then became the foundations for their speeches which explored these dreams, and how they can be realised in the future.

It’s been a 7-week journey from beginning to end, and the girls have worked with unwavering passion to perfect their scripts and rehearse their deliveries.

It is thanks to this passion that the event was the incredible success that it was. An audience member from our Upper Fourth stated at the end of the evening, ‘I want to do that when I’m in Year 12.’

In the next few weeks, look out for our fantastic speakers on the TEDx YouTube page. May they bring you hope and inspiration, too.
