Last Friday, the Hall was buzzing with energy and enterprise as our Year 12 Tycoon business teams hosted a marketplace, showcasing the impressive businesses they have been developing over the past few months.
As part of the national Tycoon Enterprise Competition launched by the Peter Jones Foundation, seven teams of Year 12 students have created, launched and are running their own businesses, applying creativity, problem-solving and commercial awareness every step of the way!
From refining their initial ideas and pitching business plans, to securing start-up funding and trading for profit, the teams have embraced the challenge with real enthusiasm and professionalism.
The marketplace provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils and staff to see their businesses in action, with students confidently selling their products – ranging from personalised essentials kits and beautiful candles – and sharing the stories behind founding their ventures. It was wonderful to see how well the teams are doing and how much they have grown in confidence since launching their enterprises.
Tycoon is a national competition that encourages young people aged 6–18 to start and run their own businesses while at school, and it is a hugely valuable experience for our Sixth Formers. Congratulations to all involved for a successful marketplace – we look forward to seeing how their businesses continue to develop!
