Art and History of Art Trip to New York

06/11/2024
A large group of people sit on the steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on a sunny day.

Over half term, our Sixth Form artists and art historians enjoyed a whistle-stop tour of New York’s galleries, exhibitions and architecture!

Highlights of the trip included…

Studying pieces within galleries such as MoMA, The Brooklyn Museum and The Met
Sketching key cultural features of the Manhattan skyline along the High Line walk and Whitney Roof Garden
A night at the theatre to see ‘Tammy Faye’

A special visit to the Friends Seminary School to see a James Turrell ‘Skyline’ installation – an opening in a building’s ceiling allowing those viewing to observe the ever-changing landscape of the sky above! The girls got to experience significant works of art and architecture in situ – a fantastic opportunity to enrich their learning!
